Since I was in school, I have always been fascinated with nature. For one of my birthdays, my parents bought me a book 'Negal' written by Mr. Vilas Manohar about the orphaned wild animals in Hemalkasa and how Dr. Prakash Amte and his team nurtured these orphaned wild animals. I was hooked and from then I read many books by Jim Corbett, Maruti Chitampalli, Ruskin Bond and a few other notable writers. Their books helped to grow my interest in this field. Further in college, when I volunteered and interned with conservation organisations such as the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), World Wide Fund for Nature India (WWF-India), Sanctuary Asia and a few other local groups and NGOs the interest grew stronger and I decided to work in the field of environment conservation.
Insects, birds and animals were my top interest and I spent several weekends in the forest trying to observe and study them. I decided to undertake a master's degree in Environmental Science after completing my graduation in Zoology. Along the course, I met a few people who shared the same passion as me. This love and passion for nature takes us to various forests and I wish to explore every wildlife sanctuary and park in India to explore our rich biodiversity.
I would like to share my personal experience of the forest through these stories and it may develop a similar interest in the readers. My college professor once said that a person will always protect what they love. We would only protect our environment and such rich biodiversity if we experience it and fall in love with it. This is my small effort to bring this world of Indian biodiversity to people.
